Bite the bullet

The Victorian Medical Society will bring original operating instruments used in the Crimean War to Portland Castle and set up tents showing an operating theatre, post-mortem room and living quarters for sailors.

Welsh trail

A new adventure play trail at the National Trust's Plas Newydd joins the Australasian Arboreteum and the popular tree house built for the 7th Marquess of Anglesey.

The Wellcome Wing at London's Science Museum opened on Monday, boasting four floors of galleries devoted to contemporary science and technology, plus an IMAX cinema.
