I lost my heart in Seville

Why: I had never really been to Spain until last summer. When we arrived, Seville seemed deserted. It wasn't until about 10 at night that people began to appear on the streets. Then the whole city came alive, vibrant and very relaxed. I loved seeing kids running around at 2am more awake than I was.

We ate lots of tapas, which was perfect for the weather, not too heavy. It's a very informal way of eating, order as you go, sit out at a table with family and friends, everyone chatting and sharing their food. Or you can wander from bar to bar having a drink and another tapas, watching flamenco or listening to some impromptu singing. It is a fantastic way of socialising.

I also loved the Moorish architecture and the fact that Spain is so exotic, very different from here, yet easy to get to.

What's the best thing? The lifestyle and the idea that everyone seems to be having fun. It's such an easy place to have a good time.

My advice: Get into the Spanish way of life. Sleep a lot beforehand so you can stay up late. Then just go with the flow.

How do you get there? Iberia (020-7413 1201) flies to Seville from £179 return. Travelscene (0870 7774445, www. travelscene.co.uk) offers two-night B&B breaks from £250.
