Skiers and snowboarders desperate for one last blast on the snow - and prepared to arrange their own transport to the Alps - could take advantage of some short breaks from self-catering specialist Interhome (020-8891 1294, www.interhome.co.uk). Between March 17 and April 14, it is offering accommodation at Siviez in Switzerland's Four Valleys, which has lift access to the slopes of Verbier . And, if you can get to the French resort of Chamonix in the next week or so, the firm has breaks of similar length available in two-room apartments from £134 for up to four people. Seven nights for the price of six are also on offer until the end of April elsewhere in France. A two-room apartment in Alpe d'Huez costs from £215 and a studio for 2-4 people in the Trois Vallées resort of Les Menuires starts at £331. None of these prices includes flights or Channel crossings.

The firm is offering one-week self-catering deals in the French Alps for £199 a head - with flights from Gatwick on March 24 and 25. The Norwegian packages are either in Geilo or Hemsedal . A week's half-board with departures - also from Gatwick - on April 1 or 8, costs £349. And Swiss holidays are available for a week starting on April 7 or 14. Last week's big snowstorms in New England have ensured good spring conditions and look likely to have extended the season in some resorts. For those able to book by Monday (March 19), Trailfinders (020-7937 5400) has a return fare of £239 from Heathrow to Boston, which comes with a £25 car rental discount. For those who can't, the same firm can offer a round trip with Northwest Airlines from Gatwick for £207. Both deals are valid for departures until April 5 and you must stay at least one Saturday night.
Méribel specialist Meriski (01451 843100) has lopped up to £150 off the price of some late-season chalet holidays. One week deals with departures from Heathrow on March 25 now cost £749 or £799 - down from £849 and £989 respectively. Packages starting on April 8 have been reduced by £125 to £799 or £899. For skiers able to get away next weekend, Mark Warner (020-7761 7002) is also discounting last-minute packages at its "Chalethotels" in Méribel. A week at the Bellevue costs £444 against the original price of £604. At the Rosablanche, the price has been cut from £584 to £434. Flights are available from Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester on March 25. As the name suggests, these properties aim to combine the feel of a chalet with the amenities of a hotel. Deals include breakfast, afternoon tea and wine with dinner.
