Practical and comfortable new-age sandals

These new-age looking sandals seem popular. What they lack in style they make up for in practicality and comfort. They have great gripping soles, are breathable and go for miles.

I've seen people jogging down the street for coffee and croissant in them, but surely you can't use them for serious hiking? You'll be amazed. They're light, have great traction, you shouldn't get blisters because they have adjustable straps for a snug fit, and they work on a variety of terrain. The cushion midsole contains air bubbles to provide shock absorbtion. They have a neoprine lining and anti-clogging rubber sole with lamb's cleat grip for control.

Now this techno-babble is what puts me off. OK then, you'll notice a big step-up from your flip-flops.

What's this "outer toe and heel wall"? It protects your toes from getting stubbed on a rock or being injured when walking on rough ground.

They sound good for travelling when it's hot, walking around cities, by the beach and for something more serious. What do they cost?

There are two styles of Traklite sandals available for both men and women. They cost £55 or £60 and have a two-year guarantee. Further information and orders from The Brasher Boot Company on 01524 841000 (www.brasher.co.uk).
