Holidaymakers are being urged to check their travel insurance details after it emerged that a dispute could leave up to 40,000 people without cover.
Lloyd's of London said policies with its name were issued despite its syndicate having ended an agreement with insurance intermediary The Management Company in July last year.
Lloyd's said it believed around 200,000 people might have bought policies since then, with between 30,000 and 40,000 of those currently abroad or set to travel. Lloyd's has said it will provide emergency health cover out of good faith but says the remainder of the policy is likely to be invalid.
