Car rental company Holiday Autos has produced an online guide to help take the stress out of holiday driving. Tips on the website range from the useful - wear suncream as you can get sun burnt through a closed win dow in extremely hot climates and pack a spare pair of prescription sunglasses - to the bizarre: tips from a feng shui expert on how to eradicate stress in the car. There are also useful sections on overseas driving regulations - for example, it's an offence to make rude gestures to other drivers in Germany - and keeping the kids entertained on the road.
This last category should prove particularly welcome following a survey commis sioned by Norwich Union Insurance which showed that one in five drivers have either had an accident or a near-miss because of their children's behaviour in the car. More than nine million drivers admitted to being distracted by their children while driving and half of parents regularly turn round to tend to their children in the back seat.
