Heading for the sun over Christmas

I'd like to take my parents away for Christmas to somewhere warm. Ideally, I want to hire a house, on or overlooking a beach, not too remote but not in a bonkers resort. Good diving nearby might help. Anyone trying to keep a hidden gem to themselves but have other commitments over the festive season?
  
  


• I am a pom living in Sydney, and would recommend a cheap flight here. You can enjoy the inner city, the beach with diving and great food. With the exchange rate of three to one, it's very affordable. If you want some more specifics, let me know.
