Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass, performed tonight by Southend's Festival Chorus will be dedicated to the memory of those who died on September 11. A collection will also be made for the Afghan Crisis Appeal.

Spirit of Galliano

The flair of John Galliano and the techniques used to create his extraordinary fashions by the deft hands of Christian Dior's Parisian team are explored at an exhibition opening in London on Friday.

Brontë scrogg

Scroggling the holly is an annual ritual in Haworth, West Yorkshire, home of the Brontës. Small children, accompanied by miniature ponies, arrive in the village bearing holly, and are presented by Santa Claus with the key to Christmas. It happens tomorrow but celebrations start with choirs and brass bands today.

Eastern views
