Magnificent seven

Art treasures from the seven historic properties known as the Great Houses of Scotland, among them Glamis, Blair and Dunrobin Castles, go on view today in Edinburgh.

Wizards remembered

American heritage

The 1920s and 30s are recalled at Leeds Castle this weekend. Actors in period dress will evoke the time when Lady Baillie, then Olive Wilson Filmer and daughter of American socialite Pauline Whitney, bought the Kent pile and restored it. Her life is also the subject of a longer-running exhibition there.

Art of the 50s

With work by David Hockney, Francis Bacon, Peter Blake and others, the London art scene in the 1950s is the theme of an exhibition opening at the Barbican on Thursday.
