Iceland in May

Is May a good time to go whale watching in Iceland? Can readers recommend activities to keep teenagers happy there?

· Late May is an excellent time to visit Iceland, the heavy tourist season hasn't kicked off but there's still lots to do. However, that it isn't really peak whale watching time because of the cooler sea temperature. Nightfall is at around 11.30pm, the sky is always more dark blue than black, but it's surprisingly easy to get used to.

I suggest horse riding for the teenagers, even if they have never ridden before. The Icelandic horse tends to be gentle and excellently trained. The best Icelandic bargain has got to be their public swimming pools, the cheapest entertainment going, outdoor, indoor, hot pots etc.
