You can watch from inside or step through the lobby on to the pavement for a great view. They also set up the front bar to serve coffee and Danishes through the morning.

· The perfect answer is the former Carthusian monastery in Cazalla de la Sierra (skill.es/cartuja), which is in the Sierra Morena hills, just over an hour's drive from Seville and just over 2 from Malaga. It has comfort without formality, a beautiful location, and is both tranquil and cheap.

· I went to a wedding last year in the Palacete de Cázulas (rentapalacete.com), an old country house, about 45 minutes from Granada. There's a private chapel in the grounds dating back to the 15th century and a Moorish garden. The main house sleeps about 20, and there's a cottage housing an extra four.
