High line reopens
Trains will run again this summer along the world's highest standard-gauge railway line - the Peruvian High Central Sierra - which closed in 1992 because of terrorist activity. There will be a limited service on the 335km track between Lima and Huancayo, whose highest point at Ticlio is 4,829m above sea level.
A return rail journey with three nights' B&B hotel accommodation at Huancayo costs from £253 with Journey Latin America (020-8747 8315, journeylatinamerica.co.uk).
