The outbreak of war in Iraq is expected to accelerate flight cancellations already being announced by airlines around the world. The following is a summary of service changes announced by airlines.

Air France
The carrier said it had cut a flight from Paris to Amman, Jordan, but that other flights were continuing as normal.

British Airways
The airline suspended flights to and from Kuwait and Tel Aviv until further notice.

Cathay Pacific
The Hong Kong-based carrier said its twice-weekly Riyadh flight had been stopping over in Dubai instead of Bahrain since last Sunday. It will maintain its 20 flights a week to Gulf destinations Bahrain, Riyadh and Dubai.

Continental
The fifth-biggest US carrier temporarily suspended some transatlantic and transpacific flights. It cut one of two daily round-trip flights from its Newark base to London's Gatwick airport and Paris's Charles de Gaulle. Continental will fly smaller planes between Newark and both Amsterdam and Rome under changes planned for April 6 to May 1. It will also cut services between Newark and Tokyo's Narita airport to four times a week from once a day through April 24.

Cyprus Airways
Flights suspended to the Gulf until Sunday, affecting flights to Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Bahrain.

Jat
Jugoslovenski Aerotransport said it would suspend flights to Damask, Beirut, Tel Aviv and Dubai from March 20, though flights to Cairo and Larnaca, Cyprus, were unchanged.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
The airline eased some cancellation rules for passengers flying to the Middle East and cancelled flights between Amsterdam and Kuwait on March 19, 21 and 23. A service to Tel Aviv was cancelled for March 19 but was to resume on Thursday with flights restricted to daylight hours. It also cancelled two flights to Amman on March 20 and 21.

Korean Air
The airline plans to halt flights to Dubai and Cairo and will reduce the number of international flights to various US cities including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Honolulu throughout May.

Kuwait Airways

Lufthansa
The carrier cancelled flights for two days to Tel Aviv, Amman and Kuwait.

Olympic Airways
The Greek national carrier has cancelled flights to Beirut, Dubai and Alexandria, Egypt, and reduced the number of flights to some Middle Eastern destinations. Olympic said it was reducing the number of its flights to Cairo, Tel Aviv, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and Larnaca, Cyprus. The airline said it was considering reducing the number of its European and domestic flights, depending on the war in Iraq and passenger demand. Flights to New York, Canada and South Africa will not change.

Royal Jordanian Airlines
The airline said it would make schedule changes and cancel flights to some destinations as fewer travellers fly to the region, but will still serve a "major portion" of its over 50 European, Asian and American destinations. Its four weekly United Nations-approved flights to Baghdad will be suspended from March 20.

Singapore Airlines
Services being scaled back to the Middle East, the United States, North Asia and possibly Europe with details to be announced soon. Its cargo unit said it would levy a war surcharge of $0.25 per kg on all affected shipments on top of a fuel surcharge of $0.20 per kg introduced this month due to rising fuel prices. It earlier said it would cut weekly services to Dubai to seven from 10 from March 24 through May due to lower bookings.

Swiss International Airlines
Temporarily cutting seven weekly flights to Cairo from Zurich. Swiss flies to nine other destinations in the region and said decisions on those would be made daily based on the situation.

Thai Airways
The airline said it would suspend flights to Kuwait and Bahrain from March 20.
