· The only parking in the city itself is the multi storey at Piazzale Roma.Whilst this is very convenient for water taxis (expensive!) and vaporetti (cheap & excellent), reaching it can involve battling through heavy traffic, charges are high, and it is non-too secure. Far better to go to Marco Polo airport, about 7km north of the city across the lagoon. This is well signposted and easy to reach. Park in the long stay multi storey car park which, whilst not cheap, is less expensive than Piazzale Roma. More importantly, it is much more secure. Travel into the city is very straightforward, with a number of options available. Quickest, but horrendously expensive, is a water taxi, so if you must arrive by boat, take a water bus, which is an hourly sevice. Conventional (car) taxi services are also available, taking about 10 minutes. The cheapest option is to take either of the two bus services running between the airport and the city. These are operated by ATVO and ACTV, and run into Piazzale Roma in about 20 minutes. You must, however, buy your ticket from the kiosk in the arrivals lounge before you board the bus.
