50th birthday celebrations

My mum is 50 next year and I'd like to treat her to a surprise holiday. I thought a cruise would be a good idea but she is prone to sea sickness. However, but I think she would be ok if she could see land all the time. I am sure cruises like this exist, but I have no idea who does them. Can you help?

· I'm not sure why you think a cruise would be a good idea for someone who gets seasick, but if you insist, how about a river cruise? There are cruises down the Rhine and the Danube in Europe, or Nile cruises in Egypt if you want to be more adventurous. Check out your local travel agent, or try some internet searches to find what's on offer.

· You could try Norwegian Coastal Voyage. They offer a range of cruises on working ships, which give you the chance to meet local people going about their daily business, as well as other travellers. The Norwegian coast is stunning (and always in view, so no fear of seasickness!) and the cruises operate throughout the year. Best of luck.
