Baseball in New York

I'm planning to spend the Easter weekend in New York, and I'd like to go to a baseball game. What's the best way to go about getting tickets? What are the most helpful internet sites etc? Which are the best seats, without spending a fortune?

· Try mlb.com and select "NY Yankees" from the drop down menu. The Yankees are the only Major League team in New York that weekend. On the website you can buy tickets for the Yankees' games for Easter weekend. They are playing the Chicago White Sox. On the website you can find out about the ticket prices/special deals, availability and giveaways for each day. Generally, the closer you are to the field of play and to home plate, the better the view. However, the prices also reflect this. First base side is better than third base as more action happens on that side normally. Seats in bleachers are the cheapest, but the seats are bench style.

· In New York, the Yankees and the Mets are almost never home at the same time. So the Yankees open their season at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, April 8-11, with a series against the Chicago White Sox. The Mets aren't at home at Shea Stadium in Queens until Monday 12, with a game against the Atlanta Braves. All the relevant information and ticket purchasing (using a credit card) can be found on the official websites: The Yankees and the Mets.

It's been a very long time since I've been to a baseball game, but anything other than the top two levels (which show as varying shades of pink on the Yankee Stadium seating chart, red at Shea) would be OK. Sitting directly behind the catcher you'll get a better view of the duel between the pitcher and the batters, although there will be some netting in the way. You'll see more action in the infield than if you're further out. The Yankee Stadium bleachers are also pretty far away from the playing field, but I imagine they'd be pretty atmospheric.
