· Why not visit Notre Dame for the solemn, austere and very beautiful Good Friday mass at 3pm, heading over to the more exuberant Sacre Coeur for the Easter vigil on Saturday night or an Easter Day mass?

· I've read that the organ at St Sulpice is incredible, and last Easter the organist played a vigil mass at 9.30pm and the regular mass schedule for Easter Sunday. According to the St Sulpice website, the schedule seems to be a prelude at 10.15am, followed by 10.30 main mass, then there's an organ audition at 11.30. There is another Mass at noon.

· Head for Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cité - and then ignore it. Walk past the front, crossing the Pont au Double onto the Left Bank. In the first street on your right you'll find the church of St Julien le Pauvre. This small building belongs to the Melchite sect of the Greek Orthodox Church and the sung mass on Easter Sunday is a truly memorable experience - enhanced by the intimate setting.
You will need to check the time of the service and be there early, as the place becomes packed. There is usually a colourful procession in the small park adjacent to the church afterwards.
