Eating and drinking
Kumharas
Cala de Bou, San Antonio Bay (00 34 971 805740; www.kumharas.org.
Just around the bay from San Antonio is this hippy terrace bar, market and restaurant. Go to watch the sunset before moving to the restaurant where you lie down to eat.
Blue Marlin
Cala Jondal (00 34 971 410117; www.bluemarlinibiza.com)
The beach at Cala Jondal is a short drive from both San Antonio and Ibiza town, the island's two biggest cities, but is surrounded by nothing but pine forest. On the shore, the stylish Blue Marlin has white parasols and wooden sunloungers, cocktails, snacks and a DJ playing lazy afternoon sounds.
Jemanja
Cala Jondal (00 34 971 187481).
The palm-topped parasols next door to Blue Marlin belong to Jemanja, a more relaxed bar restaurant famed for its sangria.
Es Xarcu
Cala Es Xarcu (00 34 971 187867).
Looks like a beach shack, but is actually an exclusive and expensive restaurant. Specialities include roast local fish followed by fine cigars.
Sa Capella
San Antonio (00 34 971 340057).
Just 10 minutes' drive from the bars of San An, this 16th-century church houses one of the island's best restaurants. Popular with DJs, reservations a must.
Chilling
Es Vedrà
A startling rock off the coast of Cala d'Hort credited with mystical powers by locals. It's a popular place to moor up your boat for a swim - but boat trips from San Antonio harbour go right past it.
Atlantis
A stunning bay surrounded by 200m high cliffs, so there is absolutely no development. A favourite hippy hangout for 40 years, getting there without a boat involves a hot and steep walk.
Cala Llentrisca
Part of the Cala d'Hort natural park, prized for its translucent waters. You can get there without a boat - after a two-mile drive down a dusty track and a 10-minute walk.
Sleeping
Ocean Drive, Playa de Talamanca, Ibiza town (00 34 971 318112; www.oceandrive.de).
Stylish but not self-consciously hip hotel, where numerous DJs stay when in town. Doubles cost from €190 during the summer peak, €85 in winter.
Pikes, Camino Sa Vorera, 3km from San Antonio (00 34 971 342222; www.pikeshotel.com)
Based on a 15th-century house in the countryside, Pikes was the setting for Wham's Club Tropicana video, and a Freddie Mercury party in 1987 that's still talked about. Rooms from €180 in the summer.
Getting afloat
For the real DJ lifestyle you need a boat. You can charter Mauro's own, complete with Captain Krankl, but it's not cheap - €1,900 a day. It takes up to 10 people (for details call 00 34 616 677375). Smaller boats, with skippers, can easily be chartered, starting at around €400 a day for four people (about £60 each). Prices are generally cheaper from the port of Santa Eulalia rather than San Antonio or Ibiza town. See www.ibiza-spotlight.com for a list of charter companies.
Getting there
DJs are rich, but few actually have private jets on standby. 'I always use the Easyjet route from Stansted,' says Fatboy Slim. 'No offence, but Spanish airlines are crap.' Flights cost from £50 return and run until 19 September (0871 750 0100; www.easyjet.com).
