Sophie and Rob's friends are getting married in Venice. Instead of a present, they want to buy them an experience while they're there.
Buy them two tickets to a live Vivaldi concert (about £20 each). He was born there. We went to a small concert hall, no seat reservation, but we got front row seats. Tell them to dress up (Venetians do). They'll remember the experience whenever they hear the Four Seasons "on hold". I do.

How about a midnight gondola ride (from €80, negotiate at the gondola stand) or cocktails at Florian's in Piazza San Marco (after dark, they can waltz in the piazza to Florian's orchestra)?
