Low-cost cruise operator easyCruise teamed up with internet auction site eBay today to offer holidaymakers a chance to bid for a holiday.

The two web heavyweights sealed a partnership that will see a batch of last-minute cruise packages on offer to bidders from as little as £1.

EasyCruise was launched by easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou in May last year and provides low-cost holidays on liners in Europe and the Caribbean with cabins from £30 per night.

Mr Haji-Ioannou said: "easyCruise is a pioneering brand that consistently fights against the norm in the cruise industry both in terms of our offering and our prices.

"Our primary business has always come via our internet site, so to link to the world's online market place is obviously a perfect fit."

EBay will also offer potential passengers a chance to book trips through the site from £30 per person for a two night break on the high seas.

Paul Ellerby, sales and marketing director at easyCruise, said the eBay tie-up would help target the company's young travellers. At the moment the average age of its passengers is 33-years-old.

Karim Lankarany, of eBay, said: "The cruise offers by easyCruise will make an excellent addition to the growing range of travel products on eBay."
