Another week, another low cost route. Ryanair starts its flights from Stansted to Pula in Croatia on October 31 (from £28 rtn inc tax). Pula itself is not the most inspiring town but it is the gateway to Istria, which has 420km of coastline and a beautiful, hilly interior which right now is full of thousands of truffle hunters and their dogs. Croatian Affair has a number of hotels on the peninsula, including the three-star Hotel Kastel in the centre of the medieval, hilltop town of Motovun. A four-night stay is £205 per person B&B with car hire.
