Been there photo competition December 2007

December's photo of the month entries were a bumper crop - here's a selection of our favourites, covering everywhere from Whipsnade zoo to Annapurna III. Scroll through to find out who won a Point 101 canvas print of their image...

Annapurna, Nepal
Annapurna Base Camp - this was our final location after trekking through the surrounding hills for seven days. We had such great clear weather that every morning's sunrise was spectacular. Here, the sun is creeping over Annapurna III with an almost full moon Photograph: Paul Heester/guardian.co.uk
Niagara Falls, Canada

Houhai, Beijing
This was taken in a hutong in Houhai, Beijing - I guess selling vegetables all got a bit too much Photograph: Vicky Hinton/guardian.co.uk
Bird feeding, Paris, France

Whitsunday Islands, Queensland, Australia
My footprint, taken on one of the Whitsunday Islands, off the east coast of Queensland. I love the way the footprint looks convex as opposed to concave. The shot sums up my year of travelling Photograph: Chloe Cottam/guardian.co.uk
Snow and ice exhibition, Brugge, Belgium

Toffia, Sabina Region, Italy
Photo of a Japanese art student visiting Toffia (a small medieval hilltop town north of Rome), who had never seen a donkey before. The connection was strong. Maybe it was the happiest day in the donkey's life as it died the next day Photograph: Sarina /guardian.co.uk
Golden temple queue, Amritsar, India

Sunset on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe
This photo was taken from our houseboat on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. It is the most peaceful place on earth and stunning at sunset Photograph: Emily Fourie/guardian.co.uk
River Thames, London

Young boxer, Trinidad, Cuba
In Trinidad, the people were the most friendly of any I have encountered on my travels. We were randomly invited into someone's home after a long hot walk and offered plenty to drink, while this lad entertained us all by running around and then donning his boxing gloves Photograph: Michael Rosser/guardian.co.uk
Whipsnade zoo, Bedfordshire
A small deer had wandered into the rhino enclosure at Whipsnade zoo and this picture shows the moment when the deer saw the formidable beast heading towards it. The deer froze and for a moment there was a standoff between deer and rhino. Photograph: Parmjit Flora/guardian.co.uk
Phewa Lake, Pokhara, Nepal
And the canvas print goes to: Adam Hardyman, for this shot of three sunken boats on a misty morning at Phewa Lake, Pokhara, in Nepal.
Ranjit Dhaliwal (Assistant Picture Editor) comments: "This stood out from the rest because of the light. It gives the landscape depth and when reflected in the water with the boats it creates a beautiful scene. The colour is wonderful and the reflections pin-sharp - it makes me want to go there so it's a great travel photo."
