From Haugesund or Oslo, take the Haukeli express bus to Haukeliseter (around four hours, nor-way.no, return tickets from £30) .

Rooms at the huts start from £80 for a single room, breakfast included. A bed in the dormitory is £23. Members of the Norwegian Trekking Association (turistforeningen.no) get discounted rates (membership for the first person in a household costs £56 for non-Norwegian residents, £30 for other members of the same household).

Visitors who don't have equipment can rent cross-country skis, poles, ski shoes and ski adhesive bands to climb up slopes, for £34 per day.
