These days shopping is dominated by bland malls, out-of-town retail parks, generic high-street chains and online retailers … But we’re not interested in any of them!
We want to hear about about the small towns, neighbourhoods and streets around the world that are keeping the flag flying for small, independent, imaginative retail – areas where you can spend half a day happily shopping or browsing in a fun and relaxed environment. (But no street markets, thanks.)
Try to provide addresses and websites (or Facebook pages) of the shops mentioned. And please ensure your tip stays within around 100 words.
The best tips will appear on the Guardian Travel website and may also appear in print in Guardian Travel. The winner, chosen by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet, will receive a £200 hotel voucher from UK.hotels.com, allowing you to stay in a choice of more than 260,000 places worldwide.
