· For single travellers I would recommend island-hopping in Greece, as it is very easy to meet new friends. For one/two weeks take a seat-only charter flight into an island or for longer take a scheduled ticket (via a European hub) to Athens, then on by local ferry.

Outside of July and August accommodation is easy to find and cheap. Try Naxos and Paros (avoid expensive Mykonos and Santorini) for lively nightlife or Amorgos and Folegandros for a traditional Greek experience.
