· The inlets around Tofino, half way up Vancouver Island, are excellent. Not only can you kayak in these waters under expert guidance, you can also visit a series of islands to look at some mighty big trees. If you're lucky, you'll glimpse black bears and bald eagles. Tofino is also a laid-back place to stay, and it's likely that you will be flying into and out of Vancouver, which is a great city in which to spend time.
