If you have time, get the train to Katoomba and see the Blue mountains. It's only 60 kilometres from Sydney, but well worth it. There are some good walking trails in Glenbrook nearby.

Hi Milly,

I was in Sydney back in 1989 and was disappointed by how 'British' it was. However, I loved getting the ferry from circular quay to Manly just as it was getting dark.

Also, if you have time, get the train to Katoomba and see the Blue mountains. It's only 60 kilometres from Sydney, but well worth it. There are some good walking trails in Glenbrook nearby.

On a more cautionary note, look after your valuables! Don't be lulled into a false sense of security with other travellers. I was staying in a backpackers' hostel in Coogee where a very determined burglar overnight managed to steal stuff from 11 guys in one dorm without waking any of us! I lost my passport, credit cards and driving licence but it didn't spoil my trip. Be careful!

Have a great trip.
