What is it?
A straightforward travel portal run by Sabre, which manages flight databases for travel agents. Travelocity has been around for a long time in net terms, and has no truck with pop-up windows, bright colours or the excessive use of exclamation marks. Flights make up most of its business, but you can also hire a car and book a hotel, as long as it's near an airport.
What about holidays?
Go to bargainholidays.co.uk instead.
So should I bother looking for a flight here?
Yes. Just as you would ring round a few agencies to find the cheapest flight, searching on Travelocity.com,expedia.co.uk and ebookers.com will usually be worthwhile.
Any distinguishing features?
It allows you to search for flights in a relatively intelligent fashion. Other advantages include baggage guidelines for each airline, flight tracking and the facility to check whether tickets have been posted.
On the other hand...
It needs a redesign and special deals are aimed at US users.
This site is for...
Travellers who want a couple of weeks somewhere uncrowded, own three-season sleeping bags, loathe travel agents and are capable of finding a flight in their own time.
