Fun park's big idea

A new roller coaster has had to be fitted with special 'big boy seats' for the growing number of obese Britons. The G-Force ride opens at Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, on 26 July. Designers of the German-built machine developed the new seat and restraint system for what they identified as the 'corpulent rider'.

Instant bliss

Virgin Holidays is offering 'three-minute weddings' in New York for cash-rich, time-poor couples. They take place in the municipal building in Manhattan, and are described as the Big Apple's answer to the Las Vegas 'drive-thru wedding'. 'It's for people who want a hassle-free wedding and you get the full day to enjoy New York,' said a spokeswoman. Details from 0871 222 1201; or www.virgin.com/holidays .

Luxury line

Bus trips to Amsterdam are going posh. Eurolines has launched a luxury service featuring more legroom than a plane, an onboard entertainment system and free drinks. Details at www.eurolines.co.uk.

Kids' Week

Kids' Week at London's West End theatres starts on 19 August. One child can go free and two more at half-price, with a paying adult, to a large number of shows. Details of performances and tickets from 0870 400 0800; www.kidsweek.co.uk. Oddly, 'the week' lasts a fortnight, until 2 September.
