Colombo's international airport was closed today after Tamil Tiger rebels launched a pre-dawn attack on the complex, with serious implications for travellers. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said that the authorities hoped to resume services from the airport by 10am tomorrow, local time. Meanwhile, the guidelines for tourists in Sri Lanka are as follows:
• Do not attempt to travel to the airport
• If you are travelling on a tour, stay in touch with your tour company
• If you are travelling independently, get in touch with your airline or contact the high commission
