I remember…

Holiday memories by Judy, lead singer of chart-topping dance act, Alice Deejay.

I went on my favourite holiday when I was 14 to a performing arts school in a castle in Lunas in the South of France. I went with my mum, my brother and my cousin for two weeks and I did tap dance classes and stage make-up. I still have pictures of myself with a huge cosmetic scar on my face.

I had my first kiss on this holiday. It was on the 14 July, which is Bastille Day, so there was a big party in the village, which is really small with the castle and a statue of the Virgin Mary watching over it. A guy whose mother was the tap dance teacher at our school kissed me at the party and I thought it was disgusting. I saw him after the holiday because he came from Holland like me but we were too young to go on seeing each other. He was the first boy I fell in love with, so I was a little bit heartbroken, but we kept in touch by phone and we're still friends.

There was a little camping ground beside the castle so I slept in a tent, which was great fun. I was used to it because my parents always used to take us camping on holiday, never to a hotel. I still really like it. It's quite something to go to the toilet with your roll of toilet paper under your arm.

I went there three times and after that I went on holiday to Spain with my cousin. It wasn't as much fun as my trips to France, where there were so many people doing things together and really getting very close. When young people go on beach holidays and just lie on the beach all day, it's just not the same. I really like to be creative for the entire holiday.
