To warm bottles of milk for toddlers that no longer need sterile preparation, buy a hand-held electric immersion element. They are small, light, cost less than a tenner, and will warm a full bottle of cold milk (or other liquid) in about two minutes.

Take a duvet cover with you - it acts as a sleeping bag in hot countries, gives you a breathing space between you and the hostel's sheets, and stops mosquitoes having a go. You can use it as a bag as well. · Nick Fisher
