Hi

Not sure how you are heading up to Cairns, but if you go by bus, stop off at Byron (if you want to see how the flower power children of the sixties are still living). A bit further north is Bundeberg, great if you like rum (which the locals prefer to water) and better, if you want absolutely nothing (except quiet) try and get to Elliot Head. If you make it, look out for a big red greyhound bus in a front garden, and say hi to Darryl and Ange and Ben and Carla from me.

Cairns is great to party but check out Airlie Beach (tell anyone you can sail and you'll pick up an easy crew berth out to the Whitsunday Islands) and Mission Beach (the Tree House is the best hostel in Oz). Say hi to the donkey for me.
