What should I do there?
Lose yourself in Prague's impossibly beautiful labyrinth of medieval streets, filled with upscale bars, art, history and romance.
What should I avoid?
The stag parties.
Where should I stay?
Located near Prague's old Jewish quarter the Hotel Josef (00800 3746 8357; www.designhotels.com) is a spacious modern building in the heart of the city centre. In sharp contrast to the old-world charm of nearby Wenceslas Square, the rooms are pared down, bathrooms are all gleaming glass and stone-cladding, and the bar is cool white. Rooms £100-£235.
What should I eat?
Heregetova Cihelna, serving a mix of Czech and international dishes in a former brick factory just down from the Charles Bridge, is doing swift business with Prague's hip-erati. Alternatively, secure yourself a river view table at Kampa Park (00 420 257 532 6856, www.kampapark.com) at the foot of the Charles Bridge. This celebrity haunt, which has attracted Dennis Hopper and Sir Sean Connery, serves 'new world fusion' food.
Where's the best nightlife?
You can opt for the more traditional beer halls, where downing several large glasses of Pilsner is de rigueur, or head for the modern Ocean Drive (V Kolkovne 7) in the Staré Mesto district for cocktails then on to the nearby M1 Secret Lounge (Masna 1).
Those crazy Czechs...
Give your loved one 12 red roses? Are you mad? Never give an even number of flowers, it's a symbol of the dead here.
So, how do I get there?
