Germany: Save £40pp off the brochure price on a two-night break to Cologne in October. The new price from the German Travel Centre (020-8429 2900) is £155pp (based on two sharing) including return flights from Stansted.
Wales: Plas y Brenin (01690 720214, pyb.co.uk) is running an "Adrenalin Surge" week in Snowdonia from October 8-12. Activities include indoor climbing, abseiling and coastal traversing, skiing on an artificial slope, orienteering, kayaking, mountain trekking and mountain biking. £199 for five days' accommodation, food, instruction and equipment hire.

France: Save £95 on a short break to Nice during October. Travelscene (020-8424 9648, travelscene.co.uk) is offering four nights' B&B at the two-star Hotel Dante for £224pp (two sharing) including return flights with British Airways from Gatwick.
France: VFB Holidays (01242 240 310, vfbholidays.co.uk) is offering four nights for the price of three for the rest of the year at a selection of properties from its France à la Carte brochure. Until December 23, four nights' half-board at the Michelin-starred Hôtel aux Armes de Champagne costs from £236pp including Dover - Calais car-ferry crossing.
Sailing: Next week, you could take the helm of a 200ft square-rigger and climb to the top of a mast 150ft above the sea. The four-night Tall Ships Adventures trip from STA (023 9283 2055, sta.org.uk) departs Portsmouth on October 11 and costs £259pp. No previous experience required. Open to anyone aged between 24 and 69.
Spain: For the week from October 13, Individual Travellers Spain (08700 773773, brochure line 08700 780187, indiv-travellers.com) has cut the price of a village house sleeping two in Albunuelas, eastern Andalucia, from £434 to £384 including car hire. Flights extra.

Cumbria: Over half-term, Cumbrian Cottages (01228 599960, cumbrian-cottages.co.uk) has cut £240 from the cost of Low Fell Cottage in Crosthwaite. The cottage sleeps six and now costs £450 for the week.
Italy: Celebrate the start of the Umbria truffle season with an eight-day walking holiday with ATG Oxford (01865 315678). With daily departures from now until the end of October, the trip costs from £648pp including return flights, seven nights' half-board, full route notes and maps and baggage transfers. Walks average eight miles a day.
Cruise: Orient Lines (020 7959 5900) has cut the cost of a seven-night Mediterranean cruise in the 826-passenger Marco Polo departing October 17 from Istanbul calling at Kusadasi, Delos, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovnik and Venice. Sharing an inside cabins costs £599pp (down from £1,095), outside cabin £699pp (down from £1,395). Single supplement £99. The price include return scheduled flights from London (upgrade to business class £199pp) with free connections from main UK regional airports. Seychelles: British Airways Holidays (0870 24 24 245, baholidays.co.uk) has cut £296pp off the brochure price of seven nights' B&B at the three-star Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay departures until December 3. The new price, £949pp, includes return scheduled flights and transfers.
Over £1,000
Thailand: Departing October 20, a two-week fully-escorted tour of northern Thailand costs £1,120 from the Imaginative Traveller (020-8742 8612). The price includes return flight from Heathrow, air-conditioned minibus transport plus domestic flights, 14 nights' accommodation (12 in hotels, two homestay) and most meals.
