If you're the kind of person who goes white-water rafting and kite surfing in the summer, you don't need to get winter blues when the cold weather sets in - adventure holiday specialist Exodus has launched a new winter programme for 2002-03.
Spurred on by the growing trend for activity holidays, Exodus has included everything from tobogganing to mountaineering in the brochure, along with a smattering of ice fishing, paragliding and cross-country skiing.
'People now don't want to laze about on holiday - they want to do something more active,' said an Exodus spokesman. 'This is for people who love to be in the mountains but who aren't necessarily skiers or snow boarders. It's an alternative to the traditional winter sports.'
Included in the programme is ski-touring in Morocco using remote lodgings with mules to carry supplies and skiing slopes normally accessible only by helicopter. There is also snowshoeing in the Dolomites and winter biking in Finland.
Most trips require no previous experience of the activities, though some, such as the traverse of Iceland's Vatnajökull glacier, are more challenging than others.
Eight days' snowshoeing in the Pyrenees costs from £489 including flights and tuition, plus an extra £80 for food. For further details, call Exodus (020 8675 5550).
