• How about seeing the midnight sun in Sweden? The exchange rate for the British pund is superb right now. You can fly from Stansted to Västerås for about £60, then get a train to Kristinehamn (change at Hallsberg). From Kristinehamn you can travel north to the land of the midnight sun, having bought a travel pass valid for a week for about £55. The train crosses the wilderness of inner Sweden, you can make frequent stops, camp out or stay in hostels or cottages. You can hike or paddle, sample local food (elk, deer and local fishes, cheeses and berries...), learn more about sami culture and see some wonderful scenery. Welcome!

• I am currently working in Iceland and have had a few friends over to visit. All of them have flown with Go and have booked on-line at Go-fly.com . However, Go starts flying in March to Reykjavik, and if you booked just before they started flying (March 21th) for June you would have got a fare of around £150. The current fare is about £230 which is the same price as Icelandair, the national airline.
The cheapest accomodation is hostel accommodation which has to be booked in advance as the hostels are always full.
