Surf the web and the waves at the same time. Tourism Queensland has launched www.queenslandwavefinder.com dedicated to surfing Australia's sunshine state. The site lists the top destinations and surf schools, and lets you book holidays online.

Let off steam
The Rocket, Flying Scotsman and Mallard are among 40 of the world's great engines getting together on August 26, 27 and 28 for the Millennium Cavalcade of Steam between Shildon and Darlington in County Durham. The birds of prey centre in the remnants of the once-great Caledonian Pine Forest at Loch Garten, Aviemore, in the Highlands, is one of the "top 10" nature reserves listed by the RSPB for spring and summer wildlife spotting. More information is on www.rspb.org.uk

Aegean Ambridge
Now that Shula Archer has been reinstated as a pillar of the Ambridge establishment after her interlude as a scarlet woman, she can get away from her life of domestic bliss.
