I have never noticed any type of agricultural inspection at Bangkok, although I have to admit that it's never crossed my mind to look. I doubt that you will have any problems, especially if the products are sealed/vacuum packed. The main countries with strict quarantine procedures are the United Sates, Canada, and of course Australia and New Zealand.
If you are really concerned you could try contacting the Thai embassy or your airline.

· At the time of the Foot and Mouth crisis there was a report in the Bangkok Post that quoted a Thai Customs Officer as saying that anybody bringing so much as a ham sandwich into the Kingdom was risking 6 months in the slammer.
Why don't you tell your friend to go to Foodland in Bangkok which stocks a wide variety of cheeses or Macro which has cheap New Zealand chedder?
