The online dating company match.com is promoting a service for tourists. The site claims to have an international database of more than 1.7 million singles in destinations such as the Canary Islands, Rome, Corfu, Nice, Florida, Sydney and Thailand. Visitors to the site can fill out a free profile and browse the database.

Vote for the best English resort
The English Tourism Council is inviting people to nominate their favourite seaside resort, best short break and best example of customer service for the Safeway Excellence in England Awards. Votes can be cast on the ETC website. Finalists will be announced in October and winners in April 2002.

American Airlines thinks bigger
American Airlines has almost completed its economy class overhaul to provide more legroom on transatlantic flights. The airline is increasing seat pitch from the industry standard of 31-32 inches to 34-35 inches.
