I camped on Rathlin Island in County Antrim, which has a lot of ticks. I was part of a camp of about 50 people, including very young children. The most used repellent was lemongrass essential oil. After applying sun protection, the lemongrass can be used diluted in carrier oil such as almond and rubbed on the legs, arms and torso.Take tweezers to remove any ticks that do take hold in the skin. Lavender oil can be safely applied neat after removal to help skin heal and stop infection.

This week's question

• We have an early flight from Stansted and need to stay the night before at a budget hotel. We will be away for a month and want to avoid the expense of parking at the airport. Is there anywhere close by offering cheap/free parking as an incentive to staying the night with them?

• Advice on parking at other airports welcome
