'Tis the season to plan your ski holiday. First up, the owners of Just Soh, the stylish chalet in Les Allues near Méribel, have opened a second chalet in the same village, but slightly cheaper due to the lack of a Jacuzzi. Le Lycène Bleu has five stylish rooms - wood panelled but with designer touches like leather headboards and simple white bedlinen - and a terrace overlooking the valley. Long weekend stays (three nights) start at £306pp and include breakfast, afternoon tea, one evening meal and access to a private chauffeur from 8am until 8.30pm every day. Excludes flights, hire of equipment and lift pass.

Thomsonfly (thomsonfly.com) has launched cheap weekend learn-to-ski packages on the back of new flights to Salzburg from Gatwick and Manchester which started this week. A two-day package in Ramsau including two nights' B&B, a learn-to-ski or snowboard course, equipment hire and liftpass costs £93pp. Flights start from £19.99. British Airways launches Gatwick-Salzburg (five times a week) on Dec 1, starting at £67.50 rtn inc tax.
