The first all-business class airline has been launched to ferry wealthy passengers between London and New York. MAXjet Airways claims to offer a revolutionary 'luxury low fare' service, with business class tickets up to 75 per cent lower than other airlines, and returns from £1,200.

Every passenger will have access to the business lounges at Stansted and JFK airports, and can sip complimentary champagne, choose dishes from a three-course gourmet menu, and explore the 'boutique winetasting programme'.

It will operate Boeing 767-200ERs, designed to seat 200 people, though the middle seats have been removed to leave just 102 seats and to give extra leg room.

Flights go on sale through MAXjet (0800 023 4300; www.maxjet.com) tomorrow, with the inaugural departure on 1 November.
