Prague takes flight
Two new flights to Prague begin next week, from just £74 return including taxes. That fare is available from low-cost Czech carrier SmartWings (00 420 255 700 827, smartwings.net), which starts its Gatwick service on November 1; while CSA Czech Airlines (0870 4443747, czechairlines.co.uk) flies from Glasgow, starting October 31, at £79 return including taxes.
Hey, big spenders
STA has conducted a survey which finds that Brits spend more on travel than anyone else in the world - $2,481pp per year. They were closely followed by Switzerland and Austria, while the US was eighth.
Cruises Med easy
easyCruise (easycruise.com) is to launch next May offering cruises from £29 a night. Itineraries are to include Barcelona to the Balearics, and the French and Italian rivieras. Booking available in January.
Taking a Liberty
Visitors to the Statue of Liberty can now bypass queues by booking online with Circle Line (statuereservations.com) which also run the island's ferry service.
Access for all
Paris gets its first purpose-built disabled-access taxis this month, with new company G7 (0033 1 47 39 00 91, taxisg7.fr) introducing 30 specially adapted minivans (50 by the end of the year).

Sipping a coffee outside a cafe in Rome could soon be illegal. "There are too many historical piazzas where the monuments are hidden by outdoor cafes and umbrellas" said the city's heritage director Gerrano Farina.
