A British snowboarder was killed yesterday after falling into a crevasse on a glacier during a high altitude "heli-ski" on the Swiss border. Police said the 33-year-old woman fell 15 metres into a crevasse in the Alps.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was among a group of seven people who had been dropped off by helicopter in the Valais area, having travelled from Italy.
They had been accompanied by a French guide. The group called for help and a helicopter rescue team arrived soon after the fall but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
