Whether you're interested in me or not I will still travel round the world as my ambition is to see everything everywhere, or at least as close as you can get in a lifetime.

Dear Guardian/Sir/Madam,

There are so many reasons why I'd make a great NetJetter it's hard to know where to begin, so I'll write how I always do, which is all my ideas as I think of them and in no particular order. It makes a better letter anyway.

I have just finished my A levels. I'd always planned to take a gap year after them, and as they went well I definitely will. I don't care if they say exams are getting easier, I still need a year out after them. Whether you're interested in me or not I will still travel round the world as my ambition is to see everything everywhere, or at least as close as you can get in a lifetime. So I already have plans and sort of know what I'm doing, which makes it easier for you - and I've already started saving. Kind of.

When I say I've already planned my gap year I mean that very loosely. You see, the difference between me and other people is that I deliberately have no set plans - I want to take every day as it comes and not be tied to any type of voluntary scheme. I don't want to teach English in foreign countries or conserve forests although I'm sure there are many good reasons to do it.

This is one of the few chances in my life to just travel and enjoy different people and different countries without any pressure. I can be free to do what I want - I'm sure that's a song - and I can share that with everyone who's stuck in boring jobs etc. and maybe encourage them to live their life a bit and get out and see the world.

Now I've got all carried away, you can see why I'd be a good Netjetter. What I'm doing will appeal to all the people out there who would love to do nothing for a year. And there's loads of us. Because I'm going out with not much idea of what I'm going to meet - I've never been out of Europe before - I can write back with all the opportunities and challenges and handy tips I pick up. There have been too many bad stories about backpacking recently so anything other travellers can pick up to help them are really useful, I know. I've been looking into it and there's a lot about voluntary schemes and not enough about people like me. So I'm here to fill the gap!!!!

I know exactly where I want to go:
CANADA > HAWAII > AUSTRALIA (you have to go there) > BALI > SINGAPORE > HONG KONG

That's where I'm going whether I fund it or I get a little help from my friends. (Well, you would be). It's a pretty standard round the world style route, I've been told. But it's still really ecxiting. They do polar bear swims in Vancouver on New Year's Day, did you know? I'll also be travelling with a friend, but if you choose me I'd be doing the first month alone so you'd get both experiences, as in, single girl and girls in a group. That'd be two people's point of view so you get 2 for the price of 1. Bargain. And that way I can be in the photos. Not such a bargain!

Anyway I think I'm near 500 words, or at least I'm starting to ramble so I'll leave you with the thought that I may not exactly be a professional writer but I'm honest and excitable and I'm planning to have a lot of fun and experiences that would interest your readers. Or at least, my mum will read them so that's 1 guaranteed!

I hope this email has kept you glued up until the end.

Yours with a world of hope,
Milly Newman
