Barrels of fun

Floating camping huts in the Netherlands offer an interesting outdoor alternative

Sleepwalkers avert your eyes now, or you maybe tempted by these floating camping huts, with a 25 sqm raft bases made from tree trunks supported by barrels, which are moored on canals in a couple of locations in the Netherlands, in De Heen, and the Marnemoende marina, surrounded by cycling routes. There's an additional collection in Belgium, in De Wissen, in Maasland near the Netherlands border. Each hut comes with camping mattresses, seats, gas stoves and lamps, a canoe and, ahem, a toilet bucket.
