Re Dave Hill's letter (May 29) about walking in the Shetland Islands and the problem of fences restricting access: in Shetland there is a traditional freedom of access to the countryside, and the islands welcome walkers with open arms. Due to the crofting way of life in Shetland, many fences are used for land management. These can hinder access in places. However, there is a plan in place to install gates and stiles along all the popular routes to improve access. Shetland Islands council would like to hear from visitors who have encountered difficulties in accessing the countryside in Shetland so that any problems can be rectified for other visitors.

So Gavyn Davies calculates that it will cost £1m per year per life saved for Herceptin. (Herceptin will work wonders, not miracles, G2, June 1). While more lives could be saved by spending NHS money elsewhere, the real point is that surely with a £100m price tag per year our business-minded Labour government could haggle for a decent discount.

Much as I'd like to join in with the current fashion for having little flags flying from one's car window (Letters, June 3), I'm struck by the limited choice available. Could any of your readers tell me where I might obtain similar flags with different designs? The Argentinian flag, for example.

So ITV "poached [Anthony] Worrall Thompson" (Not a bacon sarnie in sight on Great British Menu, June 3). About time too. How did he taste?

I pronounce "www" as "wibbly" and have never been misunderstood (Letters, June 3). That does leave the problem of saying "Forward-slash, forward-slash" - perhaps a case for Victor Borge's audible punctuation?

Oh come on. The answer is obvious. Just say "treble-yew".
