Miami is gearing up for a season of large living. Winter Party Week, a tribute to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, kicks off on February 28 and culminates in a massive beach party (winterparty.com).
Four days later, the highlight of the Miami Film Festival is Luc Besson's new film Angel-A (miamifilmfestival.com).
Hot on its heels, a million visitors are expected to take part in the Calle Ocho festival, one of the largest street parties in the world with a kids' zone, food stalls and music stages (March 11, carnavalmiami.com), while the famous Winter Music Conference, now in its 22nd year, will feature performances all over the city (wmcon.com) from March 20-25. The Cure will headline at the Ultra Music Festival, part of the WMC, (March 23-24). Other big names include Fat Boy Slim and Roger Sanchez. Phew.
