Judge Natalie Mayer: Isn't the outdoors just bloody great! Splashing about in some pretty tempestuous waves on what looks like a cold, but splendid day. This photo has a wonderful perspective, you really feel a sense of the noise of the waves and the pebbles as the tide sucks up and down the beach. And the lovely movement of the people caught in action, I can almost hear their screams. I think the photographer probably got his feet wet, but it was well worth it. Natalie Mayer: I like this clever interpretation of the theme. A slight shift in angle by the photographer may have eliminated the reflection of the dark wall on the left, giving us a cleaner reflection of the landscape behind. Same goes for the tops of the doors behind, the photo would have been improved by cleverly eliminating some of the distracting elements. Still, a fun shot and this photographer should be proud. Natalie Mayer: I like looking at this clean, atmospheric image. It is lacking a little something to be a true winner, but it's certainly a well spotted and visually pleasing scene. Photograph: Jamie Lafferty/guardian.co.uk
